WHEREAS Michael C. Shirley, a resident of the Austin area now incarcerated at FCI-Miami Camp in Miami, Fla., fits every accepted definition of a political prisoner [1]; and
WHEREAS on Feb. 27, 2024, Shirley was sentenced to 7 years and 3 months federal prison time on questionable and unproven charges of bribery and official services fraud connected to his role as a contracted consultant for a County Tax Assessor office in Seminole County, Fla. [2]; and
WHEREAS such charges would be properly handled at the county or state level, and easily dismissed [3]; and
WHEREAS the Joe Biden Administration was notorious for its weaponization of the Department of Justice and federal courts system to prosecute Trump allies such as Shirley in a desperate attempt to prevent a second presidential term for Trump [4]; and
WHEREAS Shirley claims federal prosecutors offered a plea deal for less prison time in exchange for statements related to President Donald J. Trump's involvement in the now-disproven "Russiagate" election interference conspiracy [5]; and
WHEREAS Shirley's defense team has now exhausted all appeals and legal remedies before activist federal judges [6]; and
WHEREAS Shirley, an ardent supporter of President Trump, has a long record of supporting Republicans at all levels of government, including Texas Gov. Rick Perry, Florida Gov. Rick Scott, Tennessee Sen. Mae Beavers, National Rifle Association (NRA), Republican National Committee (RNC) as Alaska State Director, Dr. Kelli Ward (2016 primary challenger against Sen. John McCain), former Cedar Park Councilman Tim Kelly, former Austin City Council candidate Richard Smith, former Austin City Council member Mackenzie Kelly, former Leander Mayor candidate Andy Hogue, former Travis County Judge nominee Rupal Chaudhari, and numerous others, thus making him a prime target for radical leftists during the Biden regime; [7]
THEREFORE LET IT BE RESOLVED the Travis County Republican Party calls upon U.S. Pardon Attorney Ed Martin to expedite Mike Shirley's clemency application and requests President Donald J. Trump issue a full pardon as soon as administratively possible; and
LET IT FURTHER BE RESOLVED the Travis County Republican Party stands for swift justice and restitution for all those wrongfully fined, punished, or imprisoned by the Biden Administration in America's ongoing efforts to roll back the weaponization of government.
